Farming over the last few years has evolved.
The transition from small scale farming by families last century to large scale by the newest sets of humans has been Interesting, as most families now prefer to buy directly from small scale traders who buy from large scale traders who then buy from the large scale farmers, And the cycle goes on an on. Pretty ironic.
Sincerely, with how the world has grown, we still don't understand why a sane man would willingly choose to hold a hoe and cutlass and decide to clear plots of lands all because he is denied access to a mechanized system of farming, Probably because he wants to cut down opportunity costs, or simply doesn't have the money, Thereby leading to unnecessary stress and so much time in trying to cultivate plants he could have just done easily with a tractor under an hour or less.
The importance of technology to the rural farmers should not be overlooked though, Because statistically, in the villages and other reserved areas, the largest chunk of people involved in crop production are the elders and senior citizens. Little doubts the life expectancy rate of an average Nigerian keeps reducing.
Technology doesn't just stop at using large mechanized system for the production of farm produce, But the synthesis of Agric Enhancing Systems that can multiply and increase ur production ratio. A fantastic example is the Fertilizers.
The continuous production of these plants gingers has lead to the improvement in their quality, moreover nobody wants to eat the leftovers of grasshoppers and other insects and pests which is why the evolution of pesticides has also been very key to the increase in the yield of plants.
Overlooking livestock farming would be tragic as technology has and can better the production and welfare of livestocks. A relatable example should be the provision of quality equipments and good water systems in a poultry.
